PsKills V1.12

Lowell

Hello,

I have picked something up from the internet, and I don't know if it is a
virus or what, and I have not been able to remove it. Every time I boot my
computer I get a black prompt screen the shows PsKill v1.12. If it's not a
virus and won't cause trouble on my home network I would like to know how I
can either remove it or stop it from popping up when I start my computer.

website, for reasons the Pskill available on Microsoft System Internals tool
is v1.12.

I did not purposely download this. All that I know is that when I received a
automatic update from Microsoft and the computer rebooted itself this PsKill
v1.12 shows on the computer in a black screen call System 32. My guess is I
picked it up from the internet somewhere.

but it does not tell me how to eliminate this "Tool" or to remove if frommy

alright then so it is on startup

Proceed here
Start>run
msconfig and click on ok

now system configuration utility console would appear
from there go to startup tab now you would see a list
can you please locate anything on the list that would indicate
as a pskill.exe or anything close to pskill*.* .

now if you get to see one advice us and we can proceed with another step
from here

also check it from here
Start>All Programs>startup> ( can you see pskill within startup ) if so
right click and delete it.

Thank you, I ran mscofig and opened the star up tap and nothing in the tap
appears as Pskills.exe or pskill*.* I have also check the Start Up folder as
you suggest and there is nothing the references Pskills.

Ok now go to Start>run
type regedit
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
cascade using the + per folder on the left details pane
now once you reach Run Folder click on in directly and reference PSKILL or
anything relatively similar to the said file on the right details pane right
click on pskill on the list then delete it .

Also check this location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Thanks Milo,

I followed your instructions and check both
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run†and
“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run†and was
unable to locate anything the was similar or reference Pskill. Any other
ideas?

ok go back to msconfig uncheck it pskill from the list of startup and click
on ok
prompt of restart with your system will come up and thats it. ( shortest way
) its not removing it from you PC its just disabling it from starting again
with the system32 windows, did someone used it previously or so did
troubleshoot your PC lately?

Milo,

As I mentioned in my earlier note, I must have pick the Pskill from the web.
I am the only one using the computer and I have not intentionally downloaded
any files remotely close to Pskill. I have gone back to run>msconfig and
checked the start up tab and there still is not anything related to Pskill,
and I am not sure what your are asking me “to uncheck it.?†means?

It *may not* be obvious then...

- Download/install Spybot Search and Destroy...

- Run it, update it, you can even immunize with it. Don't scan with it
*just yet*...
- Change it to Advanced mode (top menu, "Mode" --> "Advanced"...)
- Expand "Tools" on the left side.
- Click on "System Startup".
- Select "Export" from the right side and save it to your desktop.
- Close Spybot Search and Destroy.
- Find and open the text file you just made...
- Copy everything in it and paste it into a response here so we can see what
starts up with your computer/logon.
- After posting, go back, open Spybot Search and Destroy and fully CHECK
your system for problems and let us know what you find.

Alright since this is kind of questionable application on startup but a
known software from Microsoft System Internals now if youre in the US/CANADA
call this number 866 727 2338 ( Microsoft Security )
