I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 environment with AD also on 2012 R2 as well as forest/domain functional level. I have AD based activation for Windows Server 2012 R2 and it is working perfectly. We are in the process of testing Windows Server 2019 so I added the "Windows Srv 2019 DataCtr/Std KMS" key for ADBA however the 2019 servers are not activating when I join them to domain. It is giving the following error on member servers when they are trying to activate.
License Activation (slui.exe) failed with the following error code:
hr=0xC004F074
Command-line arguments:
RuleId=eeba1977-569e-4571-b639-7623d8bfecc0;Action=AutoActivate;AppId=55c92734-d682-4d71-983e-d6ec3f16059f;SkuId=de32eafd-aaee-4662-9444-c1befb41bde2;NotificationInterval=1440;Trigger=UserLogon;SessionId=3
I have confirmed the KMS client key is installed on the servers but no luck so far. Do I need to update my AD scheme to 2019 for this to work because from what I have read so far that should not be the case. Please help.
Regards,
Azeem Anwar.
