Upgrading to Windows 10

I just bought a brand new HP Dv7, I got a great price but I'm guessing that it's an older version because it came with Windows vista is there anyway to have it upgraded to another operating system with having to spend so much for windows 10? Honestly, windows 10 would be nice but it doesn't even have to be that particular one, just something newer/better. Everyone is telling me that vista isn't even supported anymore.

I'd appreciate any help or advice you can give.
