Reboot and select proper boot device

I have been trying to get back into my old asus laptop but the text, "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." I have been searching for solutions with the most common being inserting a windows cd or restarting the computer to go into the BIOS menu, but I do not have a windows cd and when I restarts it it brings me back to the message.
