WINDOWS 98 / .NET Framework removal

Hello all... I have an older computer running Windows 98 (256MB
memory, 300mhz, 6 GB hard drive). I use the computer primarily as a
backup for my main computer. I have it stripped down to only those
programs that I really need. Would uninstalling .NET Framework 1.1
and .NET Framework 2.0 gain me anything in terms of speed or
performance?

Thanks in advance.

warning:
fx 2.0 doesn't substitute fx 1.1
so if your programs currently need fx 1.1 you have to keep it

I think it would only really gain you disk space, since (at least as I
recall) the NET Framework stuff isn't called up until it is needed by an
application.

Of course, by uninstalling it, it should reduce the size of your registry
somewhat, but how much real difference you would see - is probably
insignificant. But if I were in your shoes, and knew I didn't need it, I'd
uninstall it, though (and actually did do that, since I wasn't using it
anymore - and got back a fair amount of disk space, to boot).

Yes, I should have added the caveat: be sure you don't use any programs
that depend on NET Framework before thinking about uninstalling it!
(obviously)
