Hi All,
As other people have posted all over technet and other bulletins, I've had issues with Windows Server 2016 and installing the first windows updates following a clean build.
I tried various settings and commands to try and rectify the fault, including SFC and DSIM, installing from sconfig, disabling UAC in local security policy but all were showing no corruption or made any difference.
After trying various updates from the catalog and getting "not applicable for your system" messages and various errors, I was able to overcome the issues and install further updates once I'd installed the following patches in the below order:
KB4485447
then
KB4487006.
Completed on x2 servers and both accepted this solution, on the first server I recreated the c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder first incase this helped. On the second I deliberately didn't and it still worked and accepted the updates.
I'm sure won't solve for everyone, but hopefully this helps other people struggling with Windows Server 2016 updates and going around in circles!
Cheers,
Billy
