Migrating Certificate Services 2012 to 2016

I have AD Certificate Services running on Windows 2012 servers and want to migrate my CA's to AD CS 2016. Is the jet database changed in 2012 to 2016 where the database is stored? I heard coming from 2008 R2 the jet database was different to they had to migrate from 2008 to 2012 then to 2016. I want to know if I can go from windows 2012 to Windows 2016 AD CS without going to 2012 R2 first.
