I have following confusions and questions in mind regarding Windows Server 2012 R2 Licensing.
Question 01 :
It's clear to me that on Windows Server 2012 R2 having hyper-v role i can only 2 VM's instances called "virtual operating system environment" but is this limitations only for Windows Server 2012 R2 based VM's or also implement on other VMs too.
Support I have one server Windows Server 2012 R2 and having four VMs 1 VM for Windows Server 2003, 2 VMs for Linux Based OS and 1 for Windows 8.1.
For Above scenario do i need two Standard licenses ?
Questions 02 :
Let's assume i have any installed operating system machine i have not activated key so what is the status of machine compliance or not compliance or other status.
Question 03 :
Is there any limitations for VM's on Standard version HOST like i can give only assigned 2 cores to my VM or no limitation applied here ?
Question 04
For Example i have old legacy hardware so can i utilize / assigned my Windows 8.1 open license to Windows XP based OS.
