All,
I have read several posts with a similar question but not quite the question I have.
I have purchased and activated Windows 2016 Server Standard, I also have VMWare Workstation Pro.
Per the 2016 server license I can have up to 2 Windows Virtual machines per set of licenses that cover my cores. I have 2-8 core processors and I purchased a 16 core license. If I understand correctly this allows me to run an unlimited number of non-Windows virtual machines (3rd party licenses apply when relevant) and I am allowed to run 2 Windows Virtual Machines.
Am I able to run two virtual instances of Window Server 2016 Standard as well as the host instance without purchasing additional licenses? So essentially I am able to run the host, a virtual machine as an ADDC (Windows Active Directory Domain Controller) and a virtual machine as a database server with my single 16 core license as long as they are all on the same physical server?
Thank You and Kind Regards,
TM
