Sharing between my old Desktop w/Vista to a new to me Desktop w/Windows 10 with a network cable and I want to copy my Documents 24.4 GB worth of stuff from old to new. I can share a folder or file but I get a bunch of permission issues when I try to copy the entire chunk. On the old Desktop I right-click Documents, click on Properties, click on Sharing tab, click on Advanced Sharing, click Share this folder, click Permissions, in Group or Username 'Everyone', in Permissions For Everyone 'Full Control', 'Change', and 'Read' a check in the 'Allow' box for each. I click Apply, and then 'OK' and 'OK' again on the Advanced Sharing window. I am now back to the Sharing tab, and under 'Network File and Folder Sharing' I click 'Share'. A window pops up titled File Sharing and it tell me 'Choose people to share with'. It reminds me that People without a user account and password for this computer can access files I share with everyone and to change this setting use the Network and Sharing Center. In the top field I enter 'Everyone' and click add 'Everyone' in the lower field right below my name. On 'Everyone' in the lower field I check 'Co-owner' and click Share. Go over to the new computer and locate old Desktop and copy Documents and paste in new computer's Documents. I get 'You require permission from the computer's Administrator to make changes to this file and copying stops and will not copy file. If I skip it, another file pops up with the same permission trouble. What am I missing? Or what do I do to get permission?
Thanks!
P.S. The File Sharing says this will take a few minutes, but continues on endlessly...
