On a new installation of Windows XP (tried both SP3 and x64 SP2), the Microsoft Update website doesn't work. I go to the Windows Update website, click the "Get Microsoft Update today!" link, go through all the screens, then at the end when it shows you the status of automatic updates, I click "Check for Updates" and it goes to the Microsoft Update website, but then the page just begins reloading endlessly at the "Checking if your computer has the latest version of Windows updating software for use with the website..." screen, each time adding an instance of "&muopt=1" to the end of the page's URL. To stop this from happening I have to go to "Change settings" (a bit hard to do with the page constantly reloading) and tick the "Disable Microsoft Update" box. The Windows Update website works normally without Microsoft Update. I tried installing all updates available on Windows Update (including IE8), updating the Windows Update Agent, and adding update.microsoft.com to the trusted sites zone, but Microsoft Update still doesn't work. On an older installation of Windows XP that already had Microsoft Update enabled, I can still access the website without problem. I appreciate your support for fixing this, thanks.
