I am going from a 2012 R2 forest to an all new 2016 forest.
I have a 2 way trust between the 2 forests.
My 2012 domain is car.auto.com. I have my main forward lookup zone where all my servers (server1.car.auto.com for ex.) live and some additional zones for development and cloud sites.
My 2016 forest is truck.auto.com . I will need to get all the servers into the new forest (truck.auto.com), but not keep the old car.auto.com suffix, as well as move those additional dev/cloud zones.
Both forests will need to be up and running while I migrate users and machines, so I cannot shut the old forest down just yet.
What's the best way to handle DNS to meet this goal? Create a secondary zone in the 2016 forest and once the 2012 one goes away, make the 2016 Primary or something else?
