Cannot print document

Cannot print document, displayed message, "ORINTER SPOOLER IS NOT RUNNING", how do I rectify, what must I do? The printer worked fine yesterday. This is the second time this has happen. After the first experience with this problem, I simlpy did not use the printer for a long period of time until yesterday at which time it worked; However, today it did not.
