Hi all, I'll do my best to explain my issue.
I have a QNAP NAS connected to a 2012 R2 server via ISCSI Initiator.
The NAS is 10TB with a folder called "Backups" that has 3TB of backup data in it. That's all that is on the NAS.
The 2012 server is showing that there is only 2TB free on the NAS.
What I believe happened is some large files were deleted and the space was never reclaimed.
I spoke with QNAP support and they are telling me this is a server issue. They are telling me if I delted files they aren't really deleted because the blocks are still "somewhere". I looked and don't see any shadow copies for this drive. They suggested doing a defrag on the iscsi target drive but it's not even listed to try that. They also suggested emptying the network recycle bin for the nas along with the recycle bin on the server. Neither of these helped.
Here is a similar issue from the QNAP forum but no real solution was given.
iSCSI LUN disk space not correct in Win2k8 (non R2) - QNAP NAS Community Forum
Any ideas? I can provide anymore information needed.
