Have an odd issue with RRAS on Server 2016 standard. Clients can all connect, all receive IP and correct DNS from DHCP and all clients can ping any IP in the internal network. Problem is, a few cannot resolve any host names - i.e. they can ping 10.0.0.10 but cannot ping Server1 (at 10.0.0.10). we have certain applications that require connecting to a host name and don't work with just the IP address. Details are:
RRAS is not installed on a DC
Client connections are on PPtP
DHCP is handing out correct IP's and DNS server to clients connected to RRAS
DNS suffix is showing correctly on remote systems
Remote systems are Windows 7 and Windows 10
Several systems connect and resolve host names OK - a few randomly do not
RRAS used to be on an old SBS2008 box and all users could resolve internal host names without issue
VPN client has been deleted and re-added on the affected systems - still unable to resolve host names
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing it - any advice on what to look at? Thanks.
