CAL-Licenses for usage with a network printer (print via email)

Hello guys.

We're running a Windows Server with network printing enabled. The printers are also connected via network. We have 50 PCs, which are all licensed with client access licenses.

A software (MyQ Business) running on the printserver, has the capability to receive print requests via e-mail.

It works like that: A user sends an e-mail to a mailbox on another server somewhere. MyQ Business on the printserver checks that mailbox every few minutes and grabs the mail, if there is one. Then it sends the attachment of that mail to the printer, which prints out the attachment.

My Question: Do clients, that are not among the 50 PCs mentioned above have to be licensed with a Windows Server CAL? Like a smartphone for example. Since they are not directly contacting the Windows Server, they probably won't need a license, am I right?

Thanks for the help.
