For reasons that are too long to explain, I have to load Windows XP onto a laptop running Windows 7 (I have been told how to do it). I have a CD of Windows XP Home (bought by me, have all the keys, all legal), which was loaded onto a desk computer that was dismantled several years ago, when I changed computers, and startted using Windows 7. I still have the hard drive of that old computer, collecting dust in the garage (I have not yet attacked it with the proverbial ax, or hammer).
My question is: loading my copy of XP onto the laptop, would it be flagged as "oh, you are trying to load the sofware on two computeres, that is verbotten by the license agreement!" although I am not using, and certainly do not intend to use, the old hard drive? Would destroying that hard drive make any difference?
Many thanks for the attention you are giving to this question.
