How do I find my Win Vista Validation Code?

I am trying to troubleshoot an old laptop of mine. It came with Vista OEM. It is a Dell 1525. On Dell's troubleshooting page, they ask for my Validation Code. After some research, I found that this is on the green sticker and labeled "Product Key" but the product key is a twenty-five character long string with letters and numbers, separated by "-" in groups of five, where Dell's page is asking for a "number only" code. With further research I have also found that a Validation Code has five characters in it?


My windows software is authentic. How do I get the Validation Code?
