Microsoft Hearts.

Dear Microsoft. Everything you thought you knew about Hearts and then some. But I still play it. Not sure why really. All I want is a fair card game and I can't let it go. Gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

Starting out with a new hand. If you get one or two Spaids, don't play. Redeal. Once you start to pass a card, your game you close out counts as a loss. Not fair! Be careful. Be sure to start a game with at least 3 or 4 Spaids. But one or two could be Ace, King or Queen of Spaids.
You seem to always get a lot of high suits especially Spaids and Hearts. If you pass an Ace or King of Spaids, you tend to get the Queen of Spaids in return. If you pass high Hearts, you will probably get the Ace, King or Queen of Spaids in return. Sometimes you just get more high Hearts.

What is that stupid sound that the Queen of Spaids makes when being thrown on your hand? Sounds like a "Cha-Choo"! Also if you listen carefully, you may hear a series of tones while you are playing the hand. This happens at any time during the game for no reason and it must be another Microsoft ploy.

When closing out a game, it asks you: "What do you want to do with the game in progress?" - "Save, Don't Save or Cancel." Like da. If I want to close out the game by clicking the small "x" at the top right of screen then that's what I want to do, stupid! Or I can just pick "Don't Save." Of course picking "Don't Save" is the same thing as throwing the game away and taking a loss. Why "Save" a game that takes about eight minutes start to finish?

Another really stupid thing is that you may want to reset all your scores to zero. It asks you, "Do you want to reset all your statistics to zero?" Yes or No? Dumb question! Why ask? What a waste of space. Da!

I was playing a series of games and played ten games and actually managed to win seven of them. That's because Micosoft Hearts let me win. Seven out of ten is not 69%. It is 70%. Another mistake by Microsoft. Their math is off again.

A lot of the time one of the other players runs the deck, slamming 26 points on you. If you are lucky, you can counter and take a trick to stop it from running the deck. This happens too much to start with. I mean this happens about one out of five games, maybe one out of four games, but too much none the less.

But even on the positive side you go ahead and play your hand then Lord and behold, you keep playing your hand and this time you get every trick so you run the deck without knowing it would happen. You might even try to get out of the lead by playing a low card, but the other players will go even lower still to help you run the deck.

And on the other side of it, you think you can run the deck, but find yourself just one card (Heart) short to do so. So one of the other players takes a trick and most of the time you get all the tricks but one, two or three.

You find yourself backed into a corner when you are playing at times. Your lead card is most of the time higher than the other players. You play a five, they play the two, three and four of the suit. It should go like this. You play a five and the other players play a two then three and the last player should always take the play with its highest card of the suit, Spaids included unless the Queen of Spades is already out by then. But you take the hand and try to lead a card that is lower than the other players. This keeps going until you get the Queen of Spades thrown on you. More points! Why are the hands dealt like this? Cheating and unrealistic.

Another thing it does is pick on you or one of the other players. It tends to pick out a player and not give them very many points. So you try frantically to stay in the game just to get the Queen of Spaids thrown on you and or a lot of Hearts. Game lost!

Someone here actually said they managed to win 66%-67% of the games. Sorry, but I can't buy into that especially if they claimed to have played a hundred games. It just can't be. No one can win like that in this game.

Now Microsoft, I think I have covered just about everything dealing with Hearts and I want you to admit that the game was made for you to lose. Just admit it would you. The lousey game cheats and there is no way around that. Why play? Like I said before, all you had to do was give us a fair dealing of the cards to start with. At least it would be more fun to play and a more random win or lose!
