Windows XP activation loop - SetupOobeBnk fix failed after a few months

Hi, I have an old, expensive piece of hardware that runs only on Win XP. The computer recently died and was resurrected. Since XP is no longer supported, the miracle fix was to run "rundl32,exe syssetup,SetupOobeBnk" in safe mode and reboot. This reset the activation requirement for 30 days. This worked for a few months, but after the computer hanged today and needed to be restarted, I received a new error: "A problem has prevented Windows from accurately checking the status of the license for this computer. To proceed, your copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft. Do you want to activate now?" And, as before, if I click yes, a dialog pops up stating that I have already activated Windows, and logs me back out, completing the loop. Does anyone know why the original fix stopped working, and more importantly, how I might get it working again? Thanks!
