Long story just condensing. Highly secure separate small domain isolated from rest of company. They want to use certs for 6 servers for RDP access but do not want to install a CA and go through the Root CA\Subordinate CA procedure for such a small domain so we were exploring the option of just buying 6 certificates.
Is it possible to use 3rd party trusted certificates in this sort of scenario? I have tried on one server and doing some researching everything is pointing to a internal CA and template you need to create. I know how to do this we use this in our production environment. However this domain is isolated from that domain with no direct access. So what happens is the self sign certificate gets generated and the one I purchased is ignored. I know about the WMI procedure for installing the thumbprint that did not work.
