I assume you want to stay with Windows. Just do a repair install and it
will remove what Ubuntu wrote to the Windows partition.

Boot the computer with your Windows ME startup floppy diskette and issue
the following command:
SYS C:
That will dislodge the Linux/Ubuntu boot loader from the MBR and return
the boot loader code to the W9x loader.

Oh jeesh! Excuse me, I must have been half asleep or in a daze when I
replied. The command that you need to run is:
fdisk /mbr
Not to worry too much, running sys c: with the ME diskette on an ME
partition will not hurt anything.

John, FWIW, I can confirm that fdisk /mbr is the correct command to remove
the (Ubuntu dual) boot menu from the C: drive. I had to use it fairly
recently myself for the very same reason. However, in my case I'd installed
Ubuntu onto the second (D
hard drive and had also to fdisk and re-format
the D: drive to recover it, due to Ubuntu writing its own format to the
disk.
In jonescat78's case though, I'm not sure quite what it would have done to
his C: drive, although Alias appears to suggest that a 'repair install' will
be necessary - which is the reason I installed it on my D: drive. Sounds a
bit serious to me (and a potential PITA)

Hi Mart
Yes, Fdisk /mbr should dislodge the Grub loader. It is fairly easy to
boot with a startup diskette and run the command and redo the partition
at the same time.
As for the "repair" install on ME all I can say is beware the Internet
Explorer soup! If you do not remove IE6 before you try the "repair" you
will end up with an IE5/IE6 soup mix that will be nearly impossible to
fix, for all intents the installation will be nearly, if not completely
trashed!
