Copy Big WMV File to CD

I have a WMV file which is 632MB. I am trying to copy it to a CD but the cd
is only 700MB and when you format the disk I am left with only 571MB of free
space. Does anybody have any suggestions what I can do?

If you have to format it, it sounds like a CD-RW instead of a CDR

Thank you for the reply. You mean the disk? Yes the disk I have is a CD-RW,
now if I use a CDR disk I will be left with 700MB free space?

Yes. If you use your CD-RW disk as a CD-R, I think you'll get the same
result. Fire up your CD recorder software and tell it to burn the
disk, just as if it weren't rewritable.

I'm not sure what you are wanting to do with the 'formatting' of the cd...
...is it a CD-RW and you are using it 'as a floppy' so to speak?

Instead if you just want to save you 632MB file on a cd, you should
use a normal cd-burning program (like Nero Burning ROM) that writes
the file to the cd and then (optionally) closes the cd.

On a "700MB cd" you should be able to write 702MB files
(or 5-10MB more if you enable overburn)

Note: if you instead of saving the file to the cd, want to be able
to play the movie in you WMV-file with a TV-dvd-player, then you have to
select Video CD or Super Video CD instead. I guess the movie will be
reencoded then, but I don't know how much will fit because I don't
have any TV and have never tried that kind of cd-burning.

what program creates a FAT on a cd that occupies 129MB, so I know not to use
it
formatting is wasteful,
try a different program
Nero fits 721MB on a 700MB disk with my particular LG burner in overburn
mode
