SomethingNotTaken
I have found multiple other posts for this with workarounds, none of which worked. (Cycling various services, disconnecting the internet, etc.) After a full 24 hours, I restarted the machine. It now does not have a working network connection. I have spent an entire day waiting for updates and installs, another day to convert it, only to end up with garbage that I would not dream of using as the base for my new network. I am going to have to start over, but don't want to repeat the process. I had two others that were eventually successful at about 12 hours. It is a dual processor Xeon 4110 with 32 MB of Ram running Hyper-V with two server installs on it. It should be extremely fast. The utilization stats are 1-2% CPU and no network. The software just doesn't seem to work. It just hangs.
I looked online, but I'm not excited to pay $150 for a proper ISO. Is there anywhere that Microsoft posts a 2016 Windows Server Standard ISO? Nobody has time for this poor of a software licensing experience. I've bought the licensing. It is working for the two that eventually converted.
Using the DISM command. (It must be "right" as it eventually kind of works.) This has to be the most frustrating MS user experience I've had in 20 years. Even all the way back to daily BSOD in Windows 3.1.
Thanks for your help, sorry I am so ticked off.
