We have an Industrial embedded PC running XP. I know that XP was End of life years ago, but for one reason or another the software running needs to stay on XP for now.
I've had to change the hard drive and have restored an image of the system onto the new drive. As soon as it boots, I am being asked to re-activate Windows.
Because the PC is on a process control network, I cannot use the online activation, so next step is Telephone.
I've been through the process several times, each time being told that the product key is not valid - please return the product to the supplier.
I've been connected to a telephone agent and she checked the product ID and again told me that it is invalid. Because it's XP, she would not assist me further and insisted that I come to answers.microsoft.com
Has anyone got any gems of wisdom please? I really need to get this up and running. Changing OS is not an option in the short term.
Thanks
