I have converted an old Windows XP system to a Virtual Machine so I can load it into Hyper-V in Windows 10. It had previously worked fine under Windows VM on my previous Windows 7 computer.
When I load the VM into Hyper-V, I get a message that I need to Activate the software. I tried to activate over the internet but got a message that it was unable to do that. I then tried to activate by telephone but the problem is that it does not give me an Installation ID. It is blank where the Installation ID would normally show.
I rang the Microsoft Support Line but the representative told me that they do not give telephone support for Windows XP any longer. He told me to put my question here. I hope someone can assist as I rely on a couple of old applications on the Windows XP VM.
Thanks
Terry
