Mouse/cursor is not communicating in ME

Marcy

Hi, all of a sudden, I turned on the pc and the screen looked different. It
has the same look as when you go into safe mode. big pixels and icons. Also,
for some reason, the mouse doesnt do anything. I tried to do everything by
just using the keyboard but the fact remains that the cursor and mouse lost
contact with my ME pc. can you give me some trouble shooting tips. I have
restarted endless times and nothing helps. Like I said, the whole icons and
look resemble as when you go into safe mode. ALSO, what can I do to "X" out
of a page by using the keyboard in case a fix to this problem takes longer
for me to get, thank you

One more thing. I see the a little "hand" on one of the icons on the desk
top and it is stuck on one of my programs. It is the same little hand to
'select' something as if grabbing.

First option :- Run System Restore and select last known date BEFORE you
"all of a sudden, I turned on the pc and the screen looked different."

To run SR without a mouse? Navigate using the Windows, Tab and/or Arrow
keys to Start | Run and in the 'Open:-' box, type "restore/rstrui" (No
quotes!) then press Return.

More options if necessary.

> ALSO, what can I do to "X" out of a page ... etc.

Alt+F should offer the File Menu with the option to close or exit.

thanks for those tips, Mart. I will do these on Monday when I get back to my

You're welcome and good luck. BTW - If SR doesn't want to work for some
reason, you could always try scanreg /restore.

I'm pleased to hear that you managed to resolve your mouse problem using
System Restore - a most under-used (and under-rated) maintenance utility. My
later reference to scanreg /restore was because for a number of reasons
(mostly self-inflicted!) SR may not *always* work and scanreg /restore can
often be a 'last-ditch' tool.

> me.

Nor do I <g> however, more importantly, you successfully repaired your PC -
well done - and thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated.
