Vista Back up facility

We have just installed Vista on a new computer, with 2 hard drives. I used
the back up facility, which copied onto my 2nd hard drive (D drive). However,
attempts to back up again have failed, because the D drive is no longer
recognised (Vista only recognises Drive F which is a card facility with a
recently installed Lexmark X5470 (printer, fax, copier etc). Any thoughts
how I can correct this problem please?

On my HP computer, the main hard drive is C: In addition, HP installed a
2nd partition on that hard drive for Recovery and this is labeled as D: Is
it possible that you have such a Recovery partition?

Hope you have an install disk.
Assuming you are using the Repair from the install disk to restore the
image, which is the correct way to restore an image. I have found first
that is best to only have ONE backup image on the whole computer. Second is
that when Vista finds the backup image, it does NOT always give the correct
location for the backup file (reason for only having one backup image).
Even knowing this, it still does a correct restore.
When you make the image, partitions with system files are normally
automatically selected and any others you want to image, must be selected,
make sure everything you want imaged is selected. The image has to be
stored on a partition that is NOT being imaged.
Hope this helps.
