Please Wait on the user profile service

We have a small RDS farm and we've noticed that since setting up user "Home folders" in Active Directory that we will get the message "Please wait on the user profile service" at login. It takes an extra 10-20 seconds before logging in now. It doesn't happen everytime, I would say 50% of the time it will happen though. Our user profiles are stored on a Synology NAS on the same vlan and subnet. The Synology has 4 Gigabit connections in LACP and then server has 2 1Gb connections on LACP and they go to a Cisco 3750x switch. I realize it can only utilize 1 nic per connection but still you would think at 1Gb it wouldn't cause a slow down. The network isn't maxed out during the login time either.


Any ideas on how I could fix this?
