I'm not sure if this is a Windows Server issue or a client issue, but I have a client using Windows Server 2016 Standard with the Windows Search Service feature installed. They have several shared folders on the server containing misc data files such as Word, Excel, Text, pdf, etc. When a user searches a shared folder they get a list of results, however they cannot perform any actions on any of the listed results. Right-clicking and double-clicking do nothing at all. Highlighting a result with the Preview option enabled does not show a preview.
If I restart the Search service on the server, then within a few minutes everything works as expected, but only for a short period of time, maybe hours at the most. If I indexing for the server volume where the shared folders are stored, then client searches work as expected, though slow and they do not search the contents of the file, only the file name (they only need to search the filename anyway).
Any help would be appreciated.
