This is a long sad story.

In June 2017, I received a brand new Dell Precision Tower 3620 running Window 10 Pro with a Dell P2416HZ monitor. The Diaplay Adapter is an Intel HD Graphics 630 and supports both HDMI as well as DisplayPort (DP) connections. Since a DP cable came with the system, I promptly cabled the system up, installed the base applications I needed and was off and running. No problem.

Except I started noticing, that when the system/monitor came out of sleep mode, application windows were repositioned and sometimes resized. Totally annoying.

Eventually, Dell support recommened I switch from a DP to HDMI connecction. I did so and the problem was resolved. But it was clear to me at least the problem was with the graphics driver. However, a lot of time was wasted contacting Dell and Intel support trying to get an answer.

In mid-2018, I notciced that there were updated versions of the Intel Gaphics driver so decided to try one and see if the issue with the DP port had been resolved. Sure enough, an updated driver worked and I switched back to using the DP cable. It was much thinner and easier to manage than the HDMI cable.

All was fine until the update to Windows 10 1903 arrived. I went back to having application windows relocate and resize when the system comes out of sleep mode. There was a more recent veriosn of the driver, but installing that didn't help. Even worse, I find this on the Intel web site:

Microsoft is moving to a new Universal Drivers architecture starting with Windows® 10 October 2018 Update. This represents a shift in our Intel® Graphics Drivers.

Sadly, this probably means a myriad of SW changes and new / different bugs taht user's have to debug. This particular issue has been around for a long time. Why can't Mirosoft fix it once and for all? Note the think that changed here was the OS not the graphics driver.

Regardless, does anybody know what version of the Intel Graphics 630 driver properly supports the Display Port on Windows 10 1903.
