upgrade demo to full using licence

Hello Support,


i recently tried to upgrade sever 2012 demo to full version using a licence i purchased recently. After registration, the licence expiry notice on the desktop disappeared and system confirmed windows is activated. But then a new notice on the desktop appeared saying licence is valid for 180 days.

am i supposed to wait for the 180 days to expire before it will switch to the licence i registered? please advice.
