We currently have a namespace setup, so domain.local\data, this namespace looks at e:\data\. All the data has been put in this folder and it is only running on 1 server (this was done by the previous IT guy).
We now plan to retire this server and replace in with 2 more, we plan to folder targets with the namespace, is this best practice?
Also on this because there is data in there we plan to point the folder targets the data folders, i.e. we will create an folder target called HR and point it at e:\data\HR which already contains the data.
The second issue we are having is when i have tested this, when we click on the folder target we are getting network path not found, we also get the same message when creating a folder target to a brand new folder. This only seems to work when we create a folder target and put in the default location of c:\dfsroot\ then everything works.
Is there a step i'm missing to get this to work and is our setup best practice, we want to enable replication once all the folder targets are setup.
