2- windows 2012 r2 domain controllers
1- windows 2008 domain controller
have an old 2008 r2 domain controller I am trying to decommission but it fails. . After much reading I located the old server in ADSIedit. The old decommissioned server appears under forestdnszones Infrastructure properties - fSMORoleOwner. The DomainDNSZones Infrastructure properties FMSORoleOwner is correct
From ADSIedit on New Server and the 2008 server I am trying to decommission, displays the following,
dc=forestdnszones,dc=csd,dc=net
CN=NTDS Settings\0ADEL:ef7889aa-062a-4f71-926b-363b76ef8923,CN=CSD1\0ADEL:73189b15-4b35-41c3-a30e-d32f73905049,CN=Servers,CN=Default-First-Site-Name,CN=S >>>> Old decommissioned server from way back
The domainDNSZones settings are correct.
DC=DomainDNSZones,DC=CSD,DC=NET
Settings,CN=CSD3V,CN=Servers,CN=Default-First-Site-Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=csd,DC=net >>>>This is my FMSO holder. This is correct!
Question?
1. Do I run both fix scripts below on both or only on the forestdnszone?
cscript fixfsmo.vbs dc=forestdnszones,dc=mydomain,dc=org
then for domain zone:
cscript fixfsmo.vbs dc=domaindnszones,dc=mydomain,dc=org
2. After the script below completes. Do I need copy the infrastructure config form the DC=DomainDNSZones and paste into ForestDNSZones infrastructure properties? Thanks
