I am having issues deleting a DC that crashed and replacing it with a new one.
I have NATE-DC and NATE-DC2. NATE-DC2 crashed and I reimaged it in ESXI. There wasn't any backup available, so this is a new Server 2016 box.
When I go to delete the old NATE-DC2 from the NATE-DC's ADUC, I cannot delete it after going through the prompts to delete the DC that no longer exists. I get this error:
"Windows cannot delete object
LDAP://dc.domain.com/CN=old-dc,OU=Domain Controllers, DC=domain, DC=com because:
While accessing the hard disk, a disk operation failed even after retries."
Also, when I create the new DC, I cannot join it to the domain no matter the name used.
