Hello,
My name is Asen and I have been using Microsoft Edge since almost the very beginning of the browser. It was not my primary browser at first but from almost two years it has been. It is true that I have some problems with web sites like Youtube since the last update in May 2019 but this was not a big issue for me so I just ignored it and continued using Edge. But two days ago, I needed to book some Airbnb, flights and a couple of online payments and the BIG issues started. At first, I didn't believe it is browser related but now I am sure it is. First it started with Airbnb:
- I tried to reserve a room, when the check-out procedure was at the end and I clicked the final step to pay - an error occurred
- The error was not really explained just nothing has happened until a timeout.
- The money has been taken from my account, but no reservation has been made.
- I started calling the support of Airbnb and the explanation was simple - no reservation has been made, money will be back, try again.
- I put money again in my card and completed the reservation (this time successfully)
- Of course, I was pissed at Airbnb because I taught it was their mistake.
After that I opened Ryanair website to buy some plane tickets:
- I reserve the ticket and added extras like check-in luggage and seats, so far so good.
- I checked the extras and sums and I click to pay (I even have a screenshot of this)
- An error occurred with the payment, I did not pay too much attention
- I put my credit card details again and check the sum (it was OK)
- I payed successfully but when I checked my travel itinerary in my email, I immediately saw that the sum was 25€ less – my checked-in luggage was missing
- I tried to reserve it again, but it was more expensive – 40€
- Of course, I was pissed and start calling and writing Ryanair support (why should I pay 15€ more when I have e screenshot that everything was added)
- The answer was simple: We checked with out IT department, everything is fine with the website and payment system, we recommend using Google Chrome!
- Of course, I was thinking it cannot be browser related and that Edge is the best! (I am not a computer specialist and I do not really know how the things happen)
I continued with my plane tickets:
- Reserved another ticket – everything went completely smoothly.
- Started to reserve a third ticket and the exact same problem happened as the first one except that this time a priority boarding and seats are missing (fortunately they are not more expensive to buy after reservation has been completed)
- This time I triple checked the sum and my shopping basket and I am 100% sure that everything was OK
- Of course, I wrote Ryanair support pissed off, but I got the same answer as before.
- I decided not to waste time for 15€ anymore.
The next day I started reservation on Lufthansa website:
- During check out the same happened: Money taken from my account; no reservation has been made.
- I tried with 3 different credit cards and every time the same!
- There was no error explanation or anything, just nothing has happening
- I called support and they said that the money will be back in two hours which was OK.
I downloaded Google Chrome and installed it.
I went to Lufthansa website and made 2 reservations - no errors whatsoever had happened – everything smooth from the first time!
So now I am completely sure that Ryanair support was right – The problem is browser related more specifically Edge related.
I am a good customer – I bought my windows and I pay Office Personal subscription to Microsoft and I ask who is going to pay these extra expenses and my wasted time which occurred because Microsoft is releasing Edge prematurely with a lot of bugs?
