Hi Microsoft Software Engineers,
Can you possibly update us here once the root cause and fix has been identified for the issue below:
"Cannot Sign In. Sign In screen does not have Password Box."
The said issue usually occurs after installing an update wherein some reported that it occurred after applying KB4512508.
Band Aid Resolution
After a Boot or a Restart the machine reaches the Lock Screen. If you press a key or a mouse button, you expect to see the Sign In screen displayed to enter your credentials.
Instead, the Sign In screen appears (you can see this switch from Lock screen to Sign in screen), but there is no User Picture (Avatar), no name, no password/pin box, and no 'Sign in Options' icons.
Alternate Resolution
Custom or Clean Installation. However, not all users may agree to perform the said process as the mentioned step will completely reset the computer's settings and remove the manually installed application including the files that is not backed up.
Thank You.
