When I run sfc /scannow the log file has a lot of lines referring to moving files from \SystemRoot\WinSxS\Temp\PendingRenames\
I cannot find the source path path.
The system was rebooted since installing any updates so there should not be anything pending.
Checking a couple files on successive runs, the Move file source is identical but the destination C:\windows\WinSxS\FileMaps contained the renamed files that I have looked for after the last run. (The same pending rename was in the two most recent runs of sfc) Comparing it with results from 6/11, the first few source files are different but there are a lot of the move file reports.
I started looking into renames after finding that when I try to change the size of the space reserved for restore points using System Protection I get the error The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect but with no clue as to what is being referenced.
Any idea what is going wrong? Here is a small sample of the log file:
