Hi guys,
Is it possible to install a Wireless USB adapter on Windows 2016 Standard HyperV server. The goal is to eventually allow one of the test VMs to connect to our wireless network. This is purely for internal testing purposes.
I've recently purchased a TP-LINK TL-WN823N V3 device, and first tested it on my Windows 10 laptop. Detects just fine and am able to use it.
However, when i plug it into the server, it detects it (under Device Manager) as an "802.11n NIC". Then i downloaded latest drivers (albeit Windows 10 drivers) from TPlink website and installed it. The program detects the USB NIC just fine and installs the driver "successfully". However, under Device Manager, the USB NIC is now considered an "Unknown Device", and under device status it says:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
A service installation section in this INF is invalid.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
I've tried 2 older drivers as well (but same outcome).
Has anyone had any success installing Wireless USB adapters on a Windows 2016 Standard server?
Thanks!
Cheers, Nimal
