I was working over the weekend when my old mouse randomly stopped working, I thought nothing of it and assumed it would be a fault in the wiring and that the laptop isn't able to read the mouse, and so I ordered a new wireless mouse.
Today I plugged the new mouse into a USB port, the laptop installed the relevant driver and I was expecting to be able to use my new mouse.
The USB port recognises when something is plugged in, and makes the corresponding jingle when something is plugged in, however the mouse itself isn't working and now I believe it has nothing to do with mice and more to do with a faulty laptop.
So, I went into the troubleshooter for devices and hardware, everything seems to be in order there. I went into devmgmt.msc and uninstalled the "USB Composite Device", restarted the laptop and then reinstalled the driver but still nothing is being recognised and I'm unable to do my work. I've done everything that I know is possible to do and still nothing is working and I need access to a mouse for my work. Is there any solutions to this issue?
Laptop make and model is an Asus X553M, windows updates applied today as well so everything up to date, just have no idea what could be causing this mouse reading error
