We recently migrated from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2016. We are in the process of setting up a new group policy for passwords. I have currently have the policy created with the following settings:
These are the only settings in the Password Policy, it is currently checked to be "Link Enabled" and "Enforced" for only my user account in AD for testing purposes. I went to my local machine and did a gpupdate via command prompt, it completed successfully.
For testing I ticked the box in AD to have me reset my password on next login, it did prompt me to set a new password, however I could set it to whatever I wanted such as 1234 and the password policy was not barking this is not allowed, so I tested it again after a 24 hour period, forced myself to reset password on next logon, again it lets me set it to whatever I want even though the password policy is requiring 8 characters, complex passwords ect....why is this not working? What can I do to get it working?
Thanks in advance
