Hi All!
I know this was asked and answered, but I have not been able to find the right information for MY situation after reading through many many posts.
I'm running server 2012R2 Standard - no AD or anything special - it's not even on a domain - this should be a straight forward in-place upgrade according to the M$ documentation. I put in the USB ISO and start setup.exe from the desktop as administrator which runs fine up until I get the prompt of keeping personal files and apps - the option is not able to be selected. The error is "you are trying to update to a version that is different than the one installed" - duh!
This is a licensed server and I tried the ISO from M$ that was supposed to be the correct one, but I also tried the eval version but neither version worked - both would not let me continue with the install unless I wiped the server.
Does anyone have any suggestions that work for this? I was wondering if I should boot from the USB and try setup from that menu? HELP!
Thanks All
Blaine
