Ive had 2 attempts and installing from 1803 (OS Build 17134.950) to 1903.
Both times it has corrupted my profile and logged in using a temporary one i.e. name.000.
Basically most of my files are gone and outlook doesn't work (cant find data files) etc etc. I use my PC for work and it will take hours to set up again under a new profile.
I have so much stuff set up just how I like it so creating a new profile will take many hours - and why should I have to do that.
Luckily (well knowing Microsoft) I have recovered by having a very recent Win 7 disk image and it comes back OK - but that's a pain.
I'm IT savvy but what I don't understand is that my profile is perfectly OK before update and I have a busy but tidy system (ie no junk, malware, viruses and all software is established names and legal etc..)
I also see reference to regedit renaming name.bak profiles but theres non there before or after update.
Currently I have stopped Windows Updating...….but how long can I keep that up...
Any suggestion appreciated. Ive seen many other problems but not this one.
How can I stop it creating a new profile during reboot from update.
