We stood up a Windows 2012 R2 domain controller running as a VM on an ESXi 6.7 host. It has been running for about 30 days without any issues. This morning it was not online and after logging onto the console it had the message "Operating System Not Found".
I booted to the Win 2012 R2 ISO - "Repair" then opened a command prompt.
This VM has 2 drives - one that has the OS and another created a couple of weeks ago to store log files (labeled as "Event Logs"). I ran DiskPart and both drives are listed.
When I list the volumes it shows:
Volume 0 F DVD-ROM
Volume 1 C Event Logs Partition
Volume 2 D System Reserved Partition
Volume 3 E Partition
Volume 3 is what used to be the "C:" drive and the Event Logs was the "E:" drive.
Does anyone know what would cause the drive letters to swap as well as the System Reserved partition getting a drive letter assigned?
Thanks
