Will my license restore/activate with my bare metal backup/restore of server 2016?

I have a server running 2016, and I no longer have the license documentation that came with the server. I do have my key written down (on the restore media), but I would like to know if my license will be active after a bare metal restore? If the server is not activated will just re-entering my key be enough to activate my server?
