So this brings up a question for me.

I recently retired and the company let me keep my laptop. The OS was, of course, part of of a volume license. OK, not a problem. So if I buy a legal version of win7 (I don't want to upgrade, driver issues), does this mean that I won't be able to activate the system using the new product code? I have some programs on the computer, which were mine, and I don't want to totally reinstall the OS cause it will trash those programs.
