We recently migrated from FRS to DFRS. Prior to migration whenever we accessed our \\domain.local we saw all of the DFS share names. It seems that all shares became invisible after the migration. If any user hits the \\domain.local they only get to see the SYSVOL and NETLOGON, however if they type \\domain.local\share they are able to access it.
Also if they go to the \\server\ hosting the share they are able to see the shares.
We also confirmed that none of the DFS name spaces have $ in them. Other than moving from FRS to DFRS nothing else was changed. So the question is why is this happening and is this a normal behavior after the DFRS migration?
This is an old thread, but I think they are / were seeing the same issue on a 2012 server DFS Namespace not visible Windows Server 2012
