Morning Guys,
I'm facing a long going problem with certification migration from server 2008 to 2016.
Here's the details about the setup,
We have a web portal running on IIS, this web portal is being used to upload user certificates in PFX format, this certificate is then saved on server in registry (path: Hkey_users\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates). The next time user tries to fetch this certificate from portal, it reflects back fine.
Now, we're migrating to Windows 2016 server. Usually exporting these registry keys and importing to new server works fine(if server is 2008), but when we import these keys to server 2016 and try to fetch the certificate from web portal, user get an error that "keyset does not exist".
"Problem encountered in identifying certificate using the remote certificate store. Please go through the following error stack for more information. SoapFault exception: [soap:Server] Server was unable to process request. ---> Keyset does not exist in"
What could be the problem here? The same thing work fine on 2008 server but not on 2016.
FYI, the default registry path for these cert in server 2016 is Hkey_Current_Users\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates.
HELP!
