Windows Server Backup

I built a windows server 2016 machine running 2-Vm's. I loaded windows server backup and everything was fine. I promoted the server to our domain controller. Now backups do not work. I have tried adding the role, errror-cannot find source file. I loaded the cd that installed windows server 2016 and pointed to the source file, still an error. I used powershell, Windows-Server-Backup has been removed. I cannot load server backup no matter what i try. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. I have tried Dism Health restore and nothing has worked.
