I found my old universal charger ... BUT

I plugged it into my computer and it says that it is not recognized , and to use at least a supported 45watt charger , the one I'm testing is a blackweb charger 90w , will it harm my computer to use this charger if I need to have a backup say go on vacation? when I first plugged it in , it made my laptop lag... also my new computer is a inspiron 15 ( right below it says 5000 series ) and its dell … any advice ?
